BWE signs a contract with Sainsons paper industries to Supply 95 TPH Biomass Boiler
Burmeister & Wain Energy is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with Sainsons Paper Industries Pvt. Ltd. for the design and supply of a 95 TPH biomass-fired boiler in India.
The project represents another significant milestone in Burmeister & Wain Energy's growing portfolio of renewable energy solutions and reinforces its commitment to supporting industries in their transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy production.
The agreement was formally signed by representatives of both companies, establishing a partnership focused on delivering a modern boiler solution that combines high efficiency, operational reliability and exceptional fuel flexibility.
About the client
Sainsons Paper Industries Pvt. Ltd. is an established Indian paper manufacturer serving a wide range of industrial and commercial markets. The company produces paper products for packaging, printing and other applications where reliable steam generation is essential for efficient manufacturing.
As sustainability becomes increasingly important within the paper industry, Sainsons continues to invest in modern technologies that improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and strengthen long-term operational performance. The new biomass boiler forms a key part of this strategy.
The project
The scope of supply includes the engineering, design and supply of a high-performance biomass-fired boiler with the following specifications:
- Capacity: 95 TPH
- Fuel: 100% Rice Straw
- Fuel Flexibility: Rice husk, sugarcane trash, sugarcane leaves, cotton waste, sawdust and other agricultural biomass residues
- Live Steam Pressure: 68 bara
- Live Steam Temperature: 495°C at 100% MCR
The boiler has been designed to deliver reliable steam production while maintaining high thermal efficiency across varying operating conditions.
Built for Fuel Flexibility
A key advantage of the project is its ability to efficiently utilize multiple biomass fuels. While designed primarily for rice straw, the boiler can also operate with a wide range of agricultural residues, allowing Sainsons to adapt to seasonal fuel availability and market conditions.
This flexibility enables the company to:
- Maintain a reliable year-round fuel supply
- Optimize operating costs
- Reduce dependence on a single biomass source
- Improve resilience against seasonal shortages
Engineering for Challenging Biomass Fuels
Designing a boiler capable of firing agricultural residues presents several engineering challenges due to its high ash content, variable moisture levels and combustion characteristics.
To address these challenges, Burmeister & Wain Energy has engineered the boiler with advanced combustion technology and a robust furnace design capable of maintaining stable combustion across a wide range of biomass fuels while ensuring high efficiency, operational reliability and long equipment life.
Technology Highlights
