First ignition of burners at Amagerværket Unit 1

On October 1st, 2008 the first burner was successfully lit during commissioning in the new BWE boiler at Amagerværket Unit 1.

The 1½ pass Benson boiler is equipped with 12 multi fuel BWE low-NOx burners each with a capacity of up to 30 MW th on biomass, 44 MWth on coal and 35 MWth on oil.

The combustion air supply is adjustable by individual settings of the flow and the air split to each burner as well as individual settings of the swirl for the secondary air and the tertiary air flows in each burner.

Trial operation is expected within January next year.
