BWE to supply 3 x 660 MWe new boiler islands for Porto Tolle - Italy

In a consortium with the parent Company STF and the Italian erection companies SICES/IREM, BWE has been awarded a contract for the design, supply, erection and commissioning of three coal fired boiler islands for Enel’s power plant Porto Tolle located in the river Po delta 55 km south of Venice/Italy.

In a general conversion from oil to coal firing of the Porto Tolle power plant, Enel will replace three of the four lines each of 660MWe by new Ultra Super Critical units.

The new Benson (once through) boilers will be of the tower type equipped with a complete BWE Low NOx firing system. The boiler design will to a large extent be based on BWE’s well proven USC experience from the Danish power plants Nordjylland#3, Skaerbaek#3 & Avedoere#2.

BWE and STF will be responsible for the complete boiler design and supply, while SICES/IREM will be responsible for erection.

The contract strengthens the BWE Clean Coal Technology presence in the international markets and is as such an important milestone in BWE's history.
