BWE has received a contract from Karskär Energi AB for a replacement and modification of the economizer in the bark fired boiler at the Karskär power station near Gävle in Sweden.
The bark fired boiler is an integrated part of the ten times larger oil fired boiler. The bark / oil fired boiler has a total output of 700 t steam/hour and was built by BWE in 1969-70.
Further to the very particular integration of a bark and an oil fired boiler as one boiler unit, the boiler is characterised by being placed on top of the turbine house with the boiler house floor about 27 meters above ground level.
The replacement and modification will be carried out by BWE's own erection team during September 2007.
