Boiler upgrade at Amager unit 1

BWE has been awarded a major boiler upgrade contract for Amager unit 1, Denmark. The Energi E2 owned coal/oil fired unit from 1971 has a heat and power capacity of 190.5 MJ/s and 136 MWe.

The contract includes a 500 t/h BWE Benson boiler and auxiliary equipment that will be installed in the existing buildings. The renovated boiler will be multi fuelled using biomass pellets, coal and oil with the capability of full boiler load on each fuel.

The production pattern will be shifted towards district heating (16 bar) with the following new capacities: 250 MJ/s and 71 MWe.

The unit will be back in commercial operation January 1, 2009.
