In 2006 BWE was awarded a contract for a Gas-Gas Heater (GGH) and a Steam Gas Heater (SGH) by Vattenfall. The two exchangers are part of the environmental plant and used for heating up the flue gas from 50°C to 315°C prior to the catalytic removal of NOx in a Tail-end DeNOx process.
The erection activities started early 2007 and the plant was put into commercial operation in January, 2009.
Fyn Power Station Unit 7 comprises a 350 MWe boiler and an APH with a rotor diameter of 16.86 m originally supplied by BWE in 1991.
In connection with the installation of a SCR unit for further NOx reduction at the plant in 2007, BWE carried out a major rehabilitation and upgrade of the APH in order to reduce air leakage and make the heater fit the SCR operating conditions. After the conversion the leakage has been reduced to below 5%
In 2007 BWE delivered one rotating, regenerative GGH to the Italian Contractor Termokimik. The GGH was installed as part of the new flue gas desulphurization plant (FGD) at the Edipower owned power station San Filippo del Mela in Sicily, Italy.
The GGH has a rotor diameter of 14.66 m and is equipped with a leakage minimizing system ensuring a very low leakage of untreated gas to the treated gas side.
