Stigsnæs Power Station is owned by DONG Energy, one of the main Danish production and energy trading companies. In 2000 the coal and oil fired 265 MWe unit 2 from 1970 was equipped with a BWE CT-121 Flue Gas Desulphurization plant.
The project demonstrated the CT-121 FGD technology capability to be included in existing power plants with limited space without compromising performance, reliability and availability. The FGD plant removes more than 98% of the sulphur in the flue gas and the by-product gypsum is sold for the production of plasterboard.
